Tipping on cam, and how to do it well

Tipping is how a performer gets paid for a public show, and it is also the language of the room. A tip says hello, thanks, or asks for something on the menu. There is no obligation, but there are habits that make the room better for everyone, including you.

Read the room first

Spend a minute watching before typing. Look at the tip menu, the goal if there is one, and the tone of the chat. Some rooms are chatty and slow, others are all about a goal. Matching the mood gets you a warmer welcome than a random request.

Ask through the menu

If a performer lists an action for a given number of tokens, tipping that amount is the request. Adding a short message with the tip makes it clear what you are asking for. Asking for something that is not on the menu is fine, but ask in chat first and accept a no.

Small and regular beats big and silent

A performer notices people who come back and tip a little each time far more than a single large tip from a stranger who leaves. If you enjoy a room, being a familiar name is worth more than any amount.

Goals are a group effort

When a room is chasing a goal, your tip counts toward it whether you started the goal or not. Tipping toward the last few tokens of a goal is one of the nicest things you can do in a room, and it is usually noticed.

What not to do

• Don't ask for free previews of paid things. The menu is the menu.
• Don't negotiate prices in the public chat.
• Don't mention other platforms, real names, or where someone lives.
• Don't tip to make demands about the performer's body or life. A tip is a thank-you, not a purchase of the person.

Being welcome

Say hello when you arrive, say goodbye when you leave, and tip for what you enjoyed. Do that in a few rooms and you'll find performers greeting you by name when you walk in.
